“When I appeared at the regulations, I will not lie, I was shocked at the lengthy method, that at any given point prior to the genuine Senate impeachment demo proceedings could disqualify the copious quantities of proof that exhibit very clear and repetitive actions of felony, corruption, and neglect of responsibility by Governor Torres around these quite a few a long time. Without the evidence to again it up, the impeachment approach is incomplete,” she reported.

“Doing what is correct is under no circumstances simple, but it is constantly the ideal detail to do. So, senators, we talk to that you do what is ideal for the persons: to be fair. These guidelines? They are not reasonable. They skew in favor of this impeached governor.”

“If the Senate overall body moves forward and adopts the impeachment guidelines as it is, then you’ll be encroaching and overreaching into the Home of Representatives’ capabilities to prosecute the case that’s in advance of us. Plain and simple,” she explained.

As for the rule to restrict the impeachment prosecutor to just the House legal counsel and staff, Santos explained this is “unjust, unethical, unfair, and unreasonable” to the Dwelling of Reps.

“If these overreaching actions ended up reciprocated, I undeniably question that the Senate would consent and tolerate such disregard [for] the separation of the properties of Legislature, and this has been echoed by quite a few members of the Home of Representatives,” she included.

She also famous that there had been no restrictions positioned on who the impeached formal can have as legal counsel and staff members for the impeachment proceedings.

“Again, this is highly biased, partial, and unfair to the Dwelling of Associates… I am not a lawful skilled, but centered on my comprehending of the proposed procedures, the Senate will not be conducting a reasonable and impartial demo and, if these guidelines are adopted, we might not even have a demo at all. The proposed regulations are littered with bias. It’s very clear and evident that the scales of justice have been deliberately tipped to accommodate the impeached,” she explained.

In accordance to Sen. Deleon Guerrero, “It is apparent that the adopted impeachment principles do not spell justice.”

Senator Manglona similarly opposed the impeachment policies.

Voting in favor of adopting the policies were the Senate president, the Senate floor leader, Hocog, Cruz and King-Nabors.
